Mitch Ruedebusch for St. Croix County Supervisor

District 3: A Veteran Leader Committed to Our Community

A Lifetime of Service to Country and Community

More Than 27 Years Protecting America

Colonel (O-6, Retired) Mitchell "Mitch" A. Ruedebusch has dedicated his life to leadership, problem-solving, and protecting the well-being of others. With over 27 years of service in the United States Army and Army Reserve, and more than a decade as a Department of the Army Civilian, Mitch understands what it means to serve with integrity and purpose.

From Platoon Leader to Battalion Commander, Mitch has led soldiers at home, in humanitarian missions, and in combat. He deployed with more than 120 soldiers to Iraq, served as an Assistant Professor of Military Science, and trained future Army leaders across the region. His final assignment supporting Minnesota during the pandemic, civil unrest, and Afghan refugee resettlement reinforced his belief in coordinated, compassionate, community-centered response.

Service didn't end with military retirement—it simply entered a new chapter focused on St. Croix County.

Meet Mitch: Your Neighbor in District 3

Rooted in St. Croix County Values

Mitch and his wife, Kris, have built their home right here in St. Croix County, raising their two sons—Taggert and Jager—with the values of service, integrity, and hard work. This is where their family has grown, where they've put down roots, and where they plan to stay.

A graduate of the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology with a degree in Mechanical Engineering, and later earning a Master of Arts in Management and Leadership from Webster University, Mitch believes strongly in lifelong learning and bringing that teacher's mindset to every challenge.

An Active Outdoorsman

When not serving his country or community, Mitch can be found outside—mountain biking, hiking, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, kayaking, or simply enjoying Wisconsin's natural beauty through responsible outdoor stewardship.

He understands firsthand why protecting our natural resources matters, and he's committed to ensuring future generations can enjoy the same outdoor experiences that make St. Croix County special.

Why Mitch is Running for County Supervisor

Service Comes in Many Forms

Mitch believes service extends beyond the military—our teachers, first responders, and countless others make our community thrive. While he never set out to enter politics, he feels a deep responsibility to continue serving.

Local Leadership Matters Most

His experiences shaped his understanding of how local, state, and federal systems work—and how they can work better. Effective leadership starts at the local level, where decisions most directly impact the safety, prosperity, and quality of life of residents.

Community Comes First

As County Supervisor, he will champion transparency, responsible growth, public safety, and the kind of teamwork that strengthens neighborhoods and builds trust. This is about ensuring St. Croix County remains a place where families thrive and everyone feels supported.

Mitch's Priorities for District 3

Collaboration Over Division

Local solutions for local challenges, bringing people together rather than driving them apart. Mitch believes in building consensus through communication and finding common ground—skills honed through decades of military leadership.

Strong Public Safety

Ensuring our first responders have the resources and support they need to keep our community safe. Mitch understands emergency preparedness from his military crisis response experience and will prioritize coordinated safety efforts across the district.

Smart, Responsible Growth

Balancing development with preservation of our natural resources and rural character. Growth should enhance our community, not compromise what makes St. Croix County special—our natural beauty and small-town values.

Support for Veterans & Working Families

Advocating for those who served and ensuring all families have access to quality services and opportunities. As a veteran himself, Mitch knows the unique challenges military families face and will work to strengthen support systems.

Responsible Financial Stewardship

Transparent county budgets that reflect taxpayer values and prioritize essential services. Mitch will bring the same fiscal discipline he learned managing military operations to ensure every dollar serves our community effectively.

1

Combat Leadership in Iraq

Deployed with more than 120 soldiers, leading troops through challenging combat operations while ensuring their safety and mission success. Mitch learned to make critical decisions under pressure and always put his soldiers first.

2

Training Future Leaders

3

Crisis Response Management

Coordinated complex operations during the COVID-19 pandemic, civil unrest, and Afghan refugee resettlement in Ft McCoy, WI. These experiences reinforced the importance of compassionate, coordinated community response during times of crisis.
